In this exciting program participants will be involved in important work to maintain and preserve Madagascar’s wildlife heritage through mangrove conservation. ESPACE ZENY is a cultural and ecotourism site just a 10 minutes’ drive from HELL-VILLE and 20 minutes’ walk thereafter. This site is bordered by a mangrove forest and consists of a center dedicated to train about professional organic farming. As a volunteer, you will first learn about the mangrove forest within the area, its richness, uses and threats. You will first work on designing an environmental teaching manual for children. After this you can begin our community environmental education outreach program, helping to highlight the importance of the mangroves and its sustainability to the local communities and schools. You will work on mangrove forest seedbeds. Young plants will firstly be used to reforest a showcase site and living classroom for local children. The minimum duration offered is 1 week and the maximum duration is 4, however, we can extend your stay if you so desire. Individuals who have a passion for environment and is interested in conservation. Being hardworking, motivated, mature and initiative are some qualities you must possess. You must have a good knowledge of English and good communicating skills, must also have a good attitude and outlook to learn and experience new and novel things. We will not tolerate smoking, alcohol or the use of drugs. Please remember that you are a guest, therefore, respecting the rules of the project is essential.

Mangrove Forest Conservation - Accommodation
Dorm Style arrangement based in the project base, there is a dining room, a lounge area where you can hang out with fellow participants and a beautiful garden to relax. A balcony and large roof terrace are also available for you to spend some quality time. Furthermore, there is a refrigerator which you are welcome to use to store food and beverages. - Meals
Three meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) during the week and two meals (breakfast, dinner) during weekends. The meals are a mix of Western and Malagasy food, consisting mainly of vegetarian dishes including rice and vegetables. You can expect to have a chicken dish about twice a week. You can also use the kitchen facilities to cook for yourself or eat out at any of the local restaurants at your own expense. - Airport Pick + Drop off
You need to fly into Fascene Airport (NOS), Nosy Be. After passing through customs and outside, our representative will be waiting for you at the arrival gate. Our transfer coordinator meets you at the meeting point at the airport upon your arrival and arranges your transfer to our accommodation in Ambondrona, Nosy Be. Our representative will be standing in the arrivals area with the name of the project or your name on a board. Please note, as soon as your flights are booked you must notify us with your flight details, so we can arrange for you to be picked up (flight number and airline are very important in case your flight is delayed, our staff then knows what time you will be arriving). Please be aware that Saturday morning 11:00 is check out time. Due to the many different personal plans and return flight times people have, we have found it logistically simpler to send participants to the nearest bus station or hire a taxi at your own cost and allow you to make your way; whether it is to do more travelling, continue on to nearby places, or return to the airport. - Ongoing service

- RESPONSIBILITIES
Volunteers at the project are the core and backbone of the organization. With that said, you as the volunteer will have the privilege of assisting the project to regenerate a mangrove forest through environmental education and replanting of mangroves and to deal with its sustainable management through ecotourism and bee farming. After meeting with the team and getting a brief introduction on history and taboos, your main tasks throughout the week will be:
- Working on the mangrove regeneration program and Setting up seedbed.
- Drawing sketch about mangrove forest conservation.
- Leading mangrove-oriented environmental education for surrounding children.
- Working on mangrove sustainable exploitation program.

- Required to commit to a minimum of 2 weeks.
- Must have an interest the environment, field work, wildlife and conservation.
- Strong work ethics are required: reliable, responsible, honest, good sense of humor, mature, dependable, physically and mentally fit.
- Must be motivated and be initiative.
- Age: 18+
- Must be a holder of a medical record.
- Good communication skills
- Required to have a medical certificate.
- Must be able to work with other persons in your profession.
- Must read and agree to abide by guidelines and ethics of the project and the community.
- Although not required, speaking French would be an advantage.

Day 1 - Arrive in Madagascar;
You need to fly into Fascene Airport (NOS), Nosy Be. After passing through customs and outside, our representative will be waiting for you at the arrival gate. Our transfer coordinator meets you at the meeting point at the airport upon your arrival and arranges your transfer to our accommodation in Ambondrona, Nosy Be. Our representative will be standing in the arrivals area with the name of the project or your name on a board.
For 1 - 4 Weeks – Work as a volunteer at our Mangrove Conservation project based in Madagascar!
For a minimum of 1 week to a maximum stay of 4 weeks you will be volunteering in Madagascar by contributing to regenerate a mangrove forest through environmental education and replanting of mangroves and to deal with its sustainable management through ecotourism and bee farming.
Your last day - You will be dropped off at a specific location where you can take a ride back to the airport to catch you plane back home or take the opportunity to travel through Madagascar. Our staff will gladly work with the project to help you book any tours to see more of this great country. - Accommodation

Location
This project is located in the rural areas of Madagascar. Wifi is unavailable for use so we recommend getting a SIM card for your mobile phone so that you have a way of making contacting with other volunteers, coordinators and your family. There are lots to do on days off such as hike, swimming, visiting the beaches and so much more!
