• Good knowledge of the English language, some knowledge of Portugese is a plus.

• Make sure to contact your local health organization to inquire about the needed/recommended vaccinations and medicine

• When to visit
  
  The rainy season starts December and can last until June. However the showers are often short and temperature is warm all year round.
• Wildlife viewing
  
  Excellent for wildlife viewing as soon as you step outside of Manaus you will be surrounded by jungle. You have chances to see, green iguana's, caiman, parrots, monkeys, piranha's, grey and pink river dolphins, large tarantula's and much more. 

Day 1 - Arrive in Manaus, Brazil;
You will arrive in the capital of the Amazon Jungle where you will be met and travel directly to your homestay where you will start adjusting for your upcoming adventure.
Day 2 - Manus city tour
On your first day after arrival you will be taken through the city of Manaus for a tour to get familiarized and see some of the sights of this great city.
For 2 - 4 weeks - Teach & Guide
Teach and guide locals, tourists and the staff of small Eco-tourism organization in the Amazon Jungle. Learn Portuguese, Teach the staff English, educate the public about the importance to sustain the Amazon Jungle and assist as a guide in exiting overnight survival trips!
Week 2 - Visit to Monkey Island Sanctuary
During your 2nd week you will visit a local monkey sanctuary on a small island in the Amazon jungle where you can get in close contact with many different species of monkeys who move freely on this island after they were freed from poachers and illegal animal traders. 
Week 3 - Meeting of the waters, Piranha fishing and a visit to a Amerindian village
View the nature spectacle of the meeting of the waters and visit a local Amerindian village after which you will go to fish for the notorious Piranha!
Your last day - You will fly back home or take the opportunity to travel through Brazil. Our staff will gladly help you to book any tours to see more of this great country.

When in Manaus you will stay at a Brazilian host family where you will have your own room. When on trip you will sleep mostly in a hammock in the jungle. Meals will be provided in both the jungle by the organization and in Manaus by your host family. Linen and towels will be provided by the homestay.

Location

For 2 - 4 weeks you will live in Manaus and on occasion in the surrounding Amazon jungle. Manaus is a Brazilian city of about 2 million people, located on the Rio Negro a few miles before it meets the Rio Solimões to form the Amazon River proper. The two rivers flow side by side for many miles, different in color, mixing in eddies: the "Meeting of the Waters." . In and around Manaus there is many things to see and to do. Being a large city it shopping malls, cinemas, bars and night clubs, while at the edge of the city the huge trees of the Amazon jungle are towering above the residential buildings. Outside Manaus many outdoor activities await, the Amazon river is one of the best places in the world to fish and is home to some of the biggest freshwater fish as well as the Piranha. If you rather watch wildlife there is many places where you can see pink and grey river dolphins, caiman, monkeys and giant bird eating spiders.
